We’re Michael and Melanie. We share a love of Mid-Century Modern architecture and design. We also love to eat, explore new wines, travel, cook, and of course we love to garden. That’s why this web site is here.
Gardening at My Mid-Century Home is a resource for ourselves. A place to collect information about the plants we’ve planted and what we want to plant. The hardscape we’ve seen and loved and what we’ve installed. A place to record photos of the gardens and plantings. As time speeds up (it does that as you age) we recall more imperfectly day by day. We can take a series of photos (when we think of it) and upload that snapshot in time. The next year we’ll be better prepared to remember what worked and what didn’t and what we could do better.
We’ve tried Garden Journals, apps for iPhone, tablets and PCs. We’ve setup a home server to store photos and PDF files. Everything seems to have a drawback. We tried Pinterest’ing our interesting finds only to find that some web sites might go away in the future. When that happens we’re left with a nice photo Pin and a link to nowhere. So now we’ll try a WordPress Blog. We’ll post content here and credit our sources.
We decided to make it this site public. As it grows, others may find a resource here. That’s great because we love to share our discoveries and passions with others. If you like what you find, feel free to Like it, Pin it, Post it, Bookmark it or Print it for your own use. And please credit/link the original source as we have.
Enjoy — we do!
